Royal Goedewaagen is now a B Corp: An important step towards sustainable craftsmanship

Royal Goedewaagen is proud to celebrate the recent recognition as a B Corp, an important milestone in the long history of our company that has been active since 1610. This certification underlines our commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and transparent business operations. It fits seamlessly with our aim to create high-quality ceramic products that not only meet modern standards, but are also produced in a responsible way, with respect for both people and the environment.

A sustainable future with respect for tradition

As a company with a rich history, Royal Goedewaagen has always put craftsmanship and the quality of its products first. However, with the B Corp certification, we also embrace a future in which sustainability and circular production are becoming increasingly important. "We not only want to preserve our heritage, but also take the next steps towards a more sustainable ceramic industry," says Pauline Spin, Managing Director at Royal Goedewaagen. "This certification is a recognition of our hard work and motivates us to take even bigger steps."

B Corp: A network of shared values

By joining the B Corp movement, we join companies that are collectively striving to create positive change in the world. This movement is committed to systemic change and tackling the most pressing social and environmental challenges. “We are proud to be part of a network of like-minded companies like Patagonia and Rituals,” says Pauline Spin. “Together, we can make a greater impact and share our knowledge and experiences to achieve our common goals.

Craftsmanship with a mission

For over four centuries, our renowned craftsmanship continues to be at the heart of this new chapter. While we stay committed to traditional production methods, we also emphasize innovation and prioritize circular processes. All products are manufactured with care and attention, while minimizing the ecological footprint. By reusing materials and reducing ceramic waste, we are taking important steps towards a more circular future.

Future plans for sustainable growth

In the coming years, we will further expand our sustainability ambitions. In addition to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting local craftsmanship, we as a company continue to invest in innovation and education. An important part of this is increasing awareness and appreciation for local production and traditional craftsmanship. For example, we are committed to raising awareness and education within the market (among potential employees, consumers and the community) to reintroduce local quality and revive the stories behind the products. In addition, we work closely with the Keramisch Museum Goedewaagen to pass on the rich history and knowledge to future generations. As part of the B Corp movement, we donate 5% of our time annually to pro-bono services to share our knowledge and expertise. With a clear vision for 2024-2028, Royal Goedewaagen is ready to enter the future with respect for our past and a focus on sustainable growth.
